15 Main Streets Receive Grant of $10,000 for 2024 Total Solar Eclipse Programming

On April 8, 2024, a total solar eclipse will pass through communities across the U.S., beginning in Texas and ending in Maine. Many Main Street communities are within the path, and thanks to the Simons Foundation in partnership with Main Street America, 15 of them received a $10,000 grant to create science engagement activities for residents and host visitors from around the world as the moon casts its shadow over their communities. Please congratulate the City of Pittsburg for being one of these cities. What an honor!

This In the Path of Totality initiative is intentionally designed for communities to actively engage residents with science. The program presents a unique opportunity for our Main Street to create meaningful and memorable experiences for our community members, centered by the total solar eclipse.
